Veronica Kai Live Blogging from the 100 Monkeys Tour

The lovely Veronica Kai will be live blogging from the 100 Monkeys tour, and she’s already posted a video from the Criminal Records in store acoustic set. You can check out her video below:

Throughout the 100 Monkeys trip (let’s come up with a better name for this?), I will be broadcasting live! Whether it’s a song, while they walk on stage, interviewing fans, or interviewing them! (Yes, we’ll get to that in a few days…) Be sure to keep a look out.
Let me know what YOU want to see. Of course, road trip antics will be recorded with hopefully better music (i.e. I recorded tons of snow while in Cincinnati last week with a perfect sound of UK’s screamo-metal band, Bring Me The Horizon, screaming, “I CAN’T REMEMBER LAST NIGHT!”)
This and more at her official site!

100 Monkeys Interview with 29-95 Music

Small Talk
100 Monkeys
From: Los Angeles
New Album: Liquid Zoo
In Houston: 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warehouse Live, 813 St. Emanuel. Tickets are $15-$20; 713-225-5483 or www.warehouselive.com.

Named after a theory about monkey behavior — no, not the one that involves the complete works of Shakespeare — Los Angeles band 100 Monkeys creates a sometimes serene, sometimes turgid sort of indie rock. Some tunes such as Future Radio ride a pleasant digital groove with some funk thrown in to dirty things up, while others such as Kolpix are straight up sleazy garage soul. The five-piece group of multi-instrumentalists ended up with a built-in audience of enthusiasts since member Jackson Rathbone appears in the Twilight film series

Describe your new record in fewer than 10 words
Jackson Rathbone: A collection of wild animals flowing freely in auditory display.
Uncle Larry: Awesome
Jerad Anderson: Founded from fluid festive fantastic fantasies formidably filled with fun.
Ben Johnson: Our strongest album yet, by leaps and bounds.
Ben Graupner: Mario Brothers meets
The Nightmare Before Christmas, blues booze and sheer bliss.
If I wasn’t making music I’d . . .
Rathbone: ... be waiting.
Uncle Larry: I wouldn’t be alive.
Anderson: Explode. And implode.
Johnson: . . . be teaching it, I hope.
Graupner: Pretend to murder people with a machete.
Best album in the world right this minute
Rathbone: Gogol Bordello,
Live from Axis Mundi
Uncle Larry: The one that hasn’t been made
Anderson:
Dark Side of the Moon (Sleep to it most nights)
Johnson:
Shame Shame by Dr. Dog
Graupner:
The Devil and the Mockingbird or Hooks
Song you like to play when nobody’s around
Uncle Larry:
My Love Has Butterfly Wings by John Klemmer
Anderson:
Jingle Bells
Rathbone: Hank Williams III,
Dick in Dixie
Johnson:
Tourist by Spencer Bell
Graupner:
Hokey Pokey
Favorite bird of prey
Rathbone: The barnyard owl Who? The barnyard owl. Who? The barnyard ...
Uncle Larry: The hawk
Anderson: Blam, the hawk
Johnson: Great Horned Owl
Graupner: Klingon (I had to look up the spelling for that.)
Cake or pie
Rathbone: Pie charts are pretty sweet ...
Uncle Larry: BOTH!
Anderson: Can I have my cake and eat the pie, too?
Johnson: Pie!
Graupner: I’ll have a drink instead.
My favorite state is . . .
Rathbone: Blissful ignorance
Uncle Larry: United State of Mind
Anderson: Liquid
Johnson: Right now, Louisiana, ’cause that’s where I am.

Jackson Rathbone prepares for the end of Twilight

We Dont want to think about the end Just yet i am NOT Ready

As Jasper in the phenomenal franchise The Twilight Saga and Sokka in The Last Airbender, Jackson Rathbone has been sparkling in some of the recent popular films. Rathbone was born in Singapore and has lived in a variety of places from Indonesia to Midland, Texas. In addition, he began in theater with a local group called The Pickwick Players. He attended Interlochen Arts Academy, a private school for arts in Michigan, where he met his great friends today (such as actor and fellow band-mate Ben Graupner). He dropped his original plans to attend the Royal Scottish Academy to move to Los Angeles to experiment with his talents. He was immediately cast as Jimmy in River’s End (2005) and as a reporter for Disney’s 411. Rathbone is now a part of the famous Twilight entourage starring as one of the leading Cullens.

100 Monkeys single ‘Wandering Mind” on the Radio

100 Monkeys’ single ” Wandering Mind” will be Dan’s pick of the day Monday on Rock Station 104.9 in Baton Rouge. Basically what happens is it gets played and then people call in and say if they should keep it or toss it. If people call in to “keep it” then it goes into regular rotation. So Monday 6pm (central time) we would like everyone to call in and say KEEP IT. The number to call is 225-499-1049. Post it on FB, tweet about it, spread the word!

National Geographic Kids Interview with Jackson

NG Kids The Last Airbender movie is based on the Nickelodeon series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. What was it like playing a cartoon character?
Jackson Rathbone I was a fan of the Nickelodeon series, so I was excited about bringing an animated show to life – the mix of martial arts, fantasy elements, and family bond. It was months of training and getting to know my incredible cast and crew, who could ask for more?!

NGK Your character, Sokka, can’t ‘bend’ like his sister, Katara. Which element would be the coolest to ‘bend’ in real life?
Jackson Water! It’s the most common element on our earth and in our bodies.

NGK What was it like working with Nicola Peltz (who plays Katara) and Noah Ringer (who plays Aang)?
Jackson They’re both really great! It was amazing to watch them grow as actors, people, and martial artists. I learned a lot from them and I hope they did from me. I feel like Nicola is truly a little sister and Noah could be the little brother I never had!

NGK What was it like shooting the start of the film in Greenland?
Jackson It was freezing! But we had a great time in the cold – snowball fights, body sledding, and waking up to the most serene landscape with the sun slowly spreading across ice. I loved it!

NGK What was the hardest thing about filming in Greenland?
Jackson Hands down, the most challenging part of filming in Greenland was simply walking without falling down in scenes. It’s so icy there!

NGK How did working on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse help you prepare for your scenes in The Last Airbender?
Jackson I actually trained and filmed The Last Airbender a few months before beginning Eclipse. So it was the other way around! The greatest thing I learned is how to keep in control while fighting for the screen.
